Mr. Collins’ career has been in advanced technology industries. During his corporate career, he held significant executive and management responsibilities in strategic business development, marketing, operations and program management for many of the leading aerospace firms in the industry. At the present time, he leads a private management consulting firm, Leo F. Collins Associates, Inc., in providing management services to the aerospace and advanced technology industries.
During his post corporate career over the past several years, Mr. Collins has participated as a consultant to the EDA in many successful loan approvals to small business technology firms. Additionally, he has directed proposal efforts resulting in the award of over 30 SBIR/STTR government grants totaling several millions of dollars. He is engaged also in management consulting services in process improvement, strategic/operation issues, and value enhancement for businesses inNew Jersey.
Other major activities include:
- Providing consulting services to a sizeable number of clients in advanced technologies, including acoustics, sensors, semi-conductor development, bio sciences, engineering test services, and a broad range of advanced technologies.
- Appointed in April, 2004 to the Board of theBergenCountyEconomic Development Corporation.
- Appointed in 2005 to the Bergen County Bio Life Science Initiative Advisory Board, a partnership formed by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority,HackensackUniversityMedicalCenter, and the Bergen County Economic Development Corporation.
- Recently sold the technology and key personnel of a an advanced semiconductor company to a leading solar energy firm after helping establish this New Jersey start –up with support from SBIR grant sources and extensive consulting to company management.
Mr. Collins holds a Mechanical Engineer degree from Stevens Institute of Technology and also a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management from Stevens.
